According to the Bible, time began when God created the heavens and the earth, that is time is dependent upon the existence of space and matter. When God created Earth, it was a shapeless blob of water that was covered in darkness. Then God created light and shinned it into the darkness. Could this be a picture of salvation to come? But how could there be light when the sun, moon and stars were not created until day 4? How is this possible, what was this light, does the earth need a sun to have light? If you have a problem with there being light on the earth before the sun, then you are going to have a real problem with the new heaven and new earth that God has instore for us. The first chapter of the Bible is very clear that there is no room for combining evolution and the creation account. Ten times the first chapter says that creatures reproduce “after their kind.” In contrast, evolution proposes that creatures evolved over long, long ages from simple to complex forms. Thus, the fossil record should be filled with these transitional forms, or intermediates, that failed. Science is making observations that can be tested and repeated.
